The lyrics of this song were written by my very good friend David Campbell Jr, after his separation from his wife.
By coincidence, I was also in a similar situation at that time and was struggling with heartache myself.
The song tries to capture that moment, right after a break-up, when you feel that you will never get over this. It's impossible. Just like the Beatles getting back together again, or nothing on earth ever dying.
The song avoids the usual clichés and puts fresh images in the listeners mind. The music for it came very naturally to me and, a lot of the times, the most natural songs are the most personal. This is one of those.
lyrics
I'll Be Over You
When birds wake at 7pm
When Christians stop saying amen
When the Beatles get together again
Then I'll be over you
When governments stop telling us lies
And happiness rains from the skies
When nothing on Earth ever dies
Then I'll be over you
I've been trying to fly free
Rise above you and stay true
'Cause when you are under me
Then I'll be over you
When good guys have all the success
And models forget how to dress
When a monster is found in Loch Ness
Then I'll be over you
I've been trying to fly free
Rise above you and stay true
'Cause when you are under me
Then I'll be over you
I'll be over you
I'll be over you
Somehow I'll come through
And I'll be over you
